Meet Melissa Kenny, APRN-CNP, PMHNP-BC
I’m Melissa Kenny, a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and founder of MINDfulness HEALth APRN-CNP, PLLC. I provide compassionate, trauma-informed psychiatric care for pre-teens, teens, and adults ages 10–64. My goal is to create a space where you feel heard, understood, and actively involved in your care.
I treat a wide range of mental health concerns, with a particular interest in PTSD and trauma, depression, and anxiety. With nearly 30 years of experience in healthcare, I’ve learned the importance of looking beyond symptoms to understand the whole person. Mental health doesn’t exist in isolation, so I consider your physical health, life experiences, relationships, environment, and other factors that may be affecting how you feel and function.
My approach combines evidence-based psychiatric treatment with psychotherapy and mindfulness techniques, while recognizing that no two people come to treatment with the same story or needs. We’ll work together to develop an individualized treatment plan that supports your goals, builds on your strengths, and helps improve your overall quality of life. When additional expertise or services would benefit your care, I can also help connect you with appropriate providers and resources.
I have worked in healthcare for nearly 30 years in a variety of areas such as behavioral health, perioperative settings, critical care, emergency room, primary care settings, care management, infection prevention, teaching/clinical faculty and various leadership roles. I earned my undergraduate degree from the University of Oklahoma and my graduate degree from Eastern Kentucky University, where my clinical training included a total of 750+ practicum hours including 90+ hours in an intensive outpatient program with a focus on substance use recovery and 200+ hours in an integrative outpatient psychiatry clinic. I later completed specialized training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) through EMDR Consulting.
Telehealth allows me to provide convenient, accessible care, with in-person appointments also available on a limited basis. Above all, I want you to feel like an active partner in your care, with the information, support, and tools you need to make meaningful progress toward better mental health and overall well-being.
